The Business

On Tuesday, September 29th, Kagan Yochim will join us in class. Kagan has been working for the Broadcast Media Center (KUFM) for the past months, but before that he ran the Missoula office of ILF Media. ILF is a successful media production company in Spokane and Kagan was hired to open and run their Missoula office. The venture appeared to be quite successful, but business matters put it under. Kagan's going to talk with you about running a business, freelancing and all the things he learned in what turned out to be a painful process.

On Thursday, James Rafferty from KPAX joins us to talk more about the "business". He's the statewide promotions manager for all the MTN stations. James is a UM grad and worked in a number of markets before settling back in Missoula. He can talk to you about promoting a station, a news product and the impact of the web.
